On Friday, June 8, 2007, 7:30 pm at The Hotchkiss School, Bruce S. Fowle, FAIA, LEEDA, spoke on “Designing a Green Lifestyle”. Senior Principal of FX Fowle Architects and a pioneer of sustainable architecture, Mr. Fowle co-founded his firm in 1978 on the philosophical basis that architecture must be conscious and respectful of context and utility while enriching the human experience.

Since that time, he has guided his firm to international recognition for excellence in design and environmental responsibility. His work has earned the firm awards including a 2001 National Honor Award for Design, the highest honor that the American Institute of Architects bestows on a project, for the Conde Nast Building in Times Square. Ranging from private residences to cultural/educational institutions and large-scale multi-use complexes, Mr. Fowle’s work has been published worldwide. His current work includes the New York Times building, a new School of Management at Syracuse University, and the expansion of the Jacob Javits Convention Center. As a long-time proponent of environmental conservation, Mr. Fowle helped guide the firm to a leadership position in sustainable design. In addition to sharing his perspective on environmentally sensitive architecture, Mr. Fowle will present his thoughts on its application to local building challenges.
