Dr. Evan Dobelle, spoke on “Global Competitiveness and the Challenge to American Education” on April 13, 2007 at Salisbury School. An educator and politician, Dr. Dobelle is currently the Executive Director of the Northeast Association of Colleges and Universities. He has been president of the University of Hawaii, Trinity College in Hartford, and City College of San Francisco. In the Carter administration, he served as US Chief of Protocol for the White House, and Assistant Secretary of State with the rank of ambassador. During the Reagan governorship in California, he served on his commission for educational reform. Dr. Dobelle has an abiding interest in educational reform and competitiveness.
