David Kirkpatrick, former Fortune magazine senior editor and author of the best-selling The Facebook Effect will speak to us about social media and the future of the internet.

Nicholas Scoville, Ph.D. has spent a half century in astrophisics studying star formations, galactic structures and the evolution of galaxies.

Richard Blanco, the country’s fifth inaugural poet, playfully says he was Made in Cuba, assembled in Spain and imported to the United States. He means that his mother was seven months pregnant when the family left Cuba as exiles. He was born in Madrid. Forty Five days later the family emigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Miami.

We will be showing four short documentary films about our communities. They were created this year by area high school students to examine and address some of the urgent issues of our time. Some of the film makers will be on hand to discuss their projects.
